Standard and Poor's has raised its rating for Irish Life after its separation from PTSB.

Britain’s beleaguered banks and building societies were dealt another blow today after a debt agency said the decreased likelihood of Government backing made them less credit-worthy.

Ratings Agency Moody's has downgraded Greece's sovereign debt rating by three notches, leaving it one away from default.
