Qantas Airways reported a AUS$245m (€207m) annual loss in profits today, hurt by rising fuel prices, a series of strikes that temporarily grounded its fleet and its struggling international division.

Qantas Airways said today that it plans to cut up to 1,000 jobs as part of a major shake-up of its international business which will include the launch of a new Asia-based airline.
