This year is the 40th anniversary of the release of Monty Python’s Life of Brian. The film met with instant controversy in 1979 and was banned in Ireland, Norway and parts of Britain. In the US, protesters gathered outside cinemas where it aired.

It’s been almost 40 years since Monty Python and the Holy Grail arrived in cinemas in 1975, and that means its time for a sing song.

After seeing the runaway success of The Passion of the Christ, film-makers behind the Life of Brian have decided to re-release the satirical Monty Python flick, it emerged today.

Eric Idle plans to ask the audiences at his upcoming US concert tour whether they like the title Spamelot for the musical version of Monty Python And The Holy Grail, which is due to open on Broadway in the spring of 2005.
