THE Irish Prison Officers’ Association (IPOA) is seeking an urgent meeting with Public Health Department after one of its officers contracted TB at a jail where there was a recent outbreak of the disease among inmates.

THE Health Service Executive (HSE) is to set up additional vaccination clinics on Monday for children attending two Cork creches where the number of TB cases has risen to 16.

SEVEN hundred patients who may have come in contact with hepatitis B patients at Waterford Regional Hospital (WRH) in the past year received letters yesterday, offering them precautionary screening for the infection.

An investigation has been launched to establish how up to 1,000 patients attending two regional hospitals in the south contracted Hepatitis B.
