A Dublin man, who bought a €1.26m house as an investment in March 2006, now owes €340,000 in repayment arrears. He has not paid a penny of the mortgage for the past six years, a judge heard today.

Permanent TSB has told a couple they must accept the bank’s “derisory” €6,000 offer of compensation before it will repay €61,000 it overcharged them on their mortgage, the High Court heard Friday.

World-renowned musician Sharon Shannon and her manager John Dunford have consented before the Master of the High Court to a judgment for €520,000 being registered against them.

Shareholders of Permanent TSB who wish to challenge the constitutionality of laws under which the State has recapitalised the institution with €4bn cannot do so by amending their existing court proceedings, the High Court has ruled.
