Two school patrons have breached Department of Education limits on spending on promotional materials when seeking parents’ backing to open new schools.

Parents in dozens of areas where new schools will open in the next four years will have to choose patrons online to run them because of past problems with the selection process.

Delays in deciding who will open four new primary schools have been linked to prospective patrons poorly representing valid interest levels among parents.
