Ireland will, today, sign up to an international pact to foster cross-border co-operation in the development of an offshore renewable energy sector in northern Europe.

WORK on a €72 million 51-megawatt wind farm in Co Tyrone is to commence immediately after Energia raised €65m to finance the project which is part of its all-island renewable energy plans.

WIND Capital Group, the wind energy division of Irish renewable energy and waste management group NTR, has secured project debt financing totalling $240 million (€160m) for its 150 megawatt Lost Creek wind farm project in the US.
