Stocks dropped on Wall Street today after Thailand’s military launched a coup against the country’s prime minister.

Stocks tumbled today as the bond market gave signals that in the past have preceded economic slowdowns. The Dow Jones industrial average lost more than 100 points.

Wall Street lifted itself out of a fourth day of losses today, closing higher as Hurricane Rita weakened slightly and veered away from many oil refineries.
