Aspiring journalist Ciara McArdle showed the power of the written word yesterday when she won a national competition that encourages students to read newspapers.

THE Irish Examiner is the country’s fastest growing daily newspaper, continuing to attract thousands of new readers in a hugely competitive market, new research reveals. This is the second year running in which the paper achieved big increases in readership.
