China has ordered the closure of live poultry markets in south-central regions after the deaths of at least 87 people in the worst outbreak of bird flu in years.

Only 700,000 newly-qualified Chinese couples have applied for having a second child this year.

China is making arrangements for an extra two million babies per year as it loosens its one-child policy to give more couples the opportunity to have two children.
