Cross-channel ferry services have reopened following a fresh blockade at the Port of Calais which disrupted the bank holiday journeys of thousands of passengers.

The trade body representing Ireland’s freight transport operators has called on the Government to seek compensation from French counterparts for the losses members are suffering due to continuing disruption in Calais.

Eurotunnel is selling its cross-channel ferries to Denmark’s DFDS for an undisclosed sum following a legal tussle with UK competition authorities.
