A co-ordinated series of explosions struck crowded shopping areas across the Indian capital today, killing at least 10 people and wounding at least 61, officials said.

The car bomb discovered near Piccadilly Circus in London yesterday, and a second explosives-rigged car found nearby, would probably have caused a large loss of life and extensive damage if it had gone off as planned.

Lil Bigley, the 86-year-old mother of captive Ken Bigley, was taken to hospital again this afternoon.
