Hundreds of women are choosing not to have their baby at the Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise (MRHP) because they are “nervous” about the care they might receive.

An obstetric consultant has apologised to a pregnant woman who was incorrectly told this week her baby had been dead for five weeks.

THE needs of the patients potentially affected by a cancer misdiagnosis were somehow swept aside in the flurry of activity that followed the decision to set up a review of breast diagnostic services at the Midlands Regional Hospital in Portlaoise.
