Jules Bianchi remains in a “critical but stable” condition in hospital following surgery after he sustained severe head injuries in Sunday’s Japanese Grand Prix.

Marussia have issued a statement thanking fans for their support and asked for “patience and understanding” after Jules Bianchi’s accident at yesterday’s Japanese Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton may have moved further clear at the top of the championship standings after victory at the Japanese Grand Prix but the Brit was unconcerned about his title tilt after Marussia’s Jules Bianchi was left fighting for his life.

Formula One left Suzuka bound for Sochi with the thoughts of everyone involved in the sport firmly left behind with Jules Bianchi — as the Marussia driver fought for his life in a Japanese hospital.

Jules Bianchi is currently undergoing surgery after suffering a severe head injury following a crash at the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka.
