THE Government has been criticised for making a loss of over €2 million on a former hotel in Co Cork which it earmarked, but never used, as an asylum-seeker centre.

The Government wasted €2m on a refugee centre in Cork which never housed a single asylum seeker, it emerged today.

A REPORT to be launched today by the Oireachtas Public Accounts Committee is expected to criticise the OPW for wasting €3.5 million purchasing a Co Cork hotel five years ago which has never been used for its intended purpose as an asylum seeker centre.
