A High Court judge yesterday said he accepted a woman’s version of what happened at an Ann Summers lingerie party in a Dublin pub, but she was not entitled to damages.

An incident involving a ring intended for use on “a certain part” of the male anatomy being thrown into the air as a prize at a lingerie party was akin to a bridal bouquet being thrown and did not require a risk assessment, an engineer told the High Court.

Blaming a pub owner for the alleged injuries of a woman during a rush to grab a spot prize at an Ann Summers sex toy party would fly in the face of common sense, a court has been told.

An engineer has told the High Court a “proper risk assessment” should be carried out in advance of throwing items in the air at Ann Summers lingerie parties in venues where alcohol is being served. He was not saying such parties should be banned, Barry Tennyson said.
