BANK of Ireland has secured a €22.5 million summary judgment order on consent against a Dublin businessman over unpaid property loans.

ANGLO Irish Bank is seeking judgment orders for €26 million arising from personal loans made to insolvent well-known businessman Brendan Murtagh, whose total liabilities are estimated at €353m.

A HIGH Court judge has ordered gardaí to arrest and bring before the court a Cork businessman who is facing jail for contempt of court orders directing him to supply a statement of his assets to investors pursuing him for €28.1 million.

BUSINESSMAN Brendan Murtagh is insolvent, the Commercial Court heard yesterday. Mr Murtagh and two other businessmen are being pursued for €28.1 million by investors related to Polish property deals and all three have had total judgments for more than €60m entered against them.
