The thumbs down has been given to a district heating system capable of providing cheaper hot water for 5,000 homes in Killarney.

Residents of a Kerry town are objecting to the proposed site of a €15 million “green” heating plant.

A planning application for a €15m green energy system for Killarney is due to be lodged with the town council within six weeks.
