BURMESE troops are hunting down 2,000 civilians hiding in the jungle after being driven from their homes in a brutal offensive against the Karen ethnic minority, reports from Burma said yesterday.

Ethnic rebels exploded bombs almost simultaneously at two busy supermarkets and a convention centre in Myanmar’s capital, Yangon, today, killing 11 people and wounding 162 others, state television reported.
