The Criminal Assets Bureau has withdrawn a legal action seeking to have a company of businessman Jim Kennedy pay to the State monies it is claimed came from the alleged corrupt enrichment of the firm following rezoning of land at Carrickmines, Dublin.

The High Court will in June hear a challenge by a company of businessman Jim Kennedy against a freezing order on land which the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) says was rezoned as a result of corruption.

A LAWYER for Jim Kennedy told the High Court yesterday he needed to take instructions from Mr Kennedy, particularly as to whether his side may bring an action for abuse of power or interference with the justice by CAB (Criminal Assets Bureau).

BUSINESSMAN Jim Kennedy was arrested by the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) after he attended a court case involving an alleged €53 million “corrupt” land deal.
