A governing body for sulky racing in Ireland yesterday dismissed as nonsensical recommendations by a joint policing committee to allegedly “regulate” the sport.

CORK County Council has backtracked on banning people from jogging in sand dunes — but won’t do a U-turn on other proposed beach bylaws which include restrictions on horse-riding and walking dogs.

THE Irish Trotting & Harness Racing Federation (ITHRF) is objecting to Cork County Council plans to introduce bylaws on beaches which will severely curtail their sport and a number of other activities.
