Volunteers behind a new museum say they hope to tell the remarkable stories here of the US military’s bravest Irish heroes.

The parents of an Irish American US Navy Seal who was killed in action in Afghanistan a decade ago, and whose story inspired a Hollywood movie, have expressed delight at an Irish group’s decision to honour his memory.

Ambitious plans to develop an interpretive centre and a memorial to honour Irish soldiers who have served in armies around the world over the last four centuries have been unveiled.
