New calls have been made for a change in legislation governing Irish nursing homes.

NURSING home owners say they are being forced out of business because cash-strapped health boards are unable to pay towards the upkeep of elderly patients.

BEDS in nursing homes around the country remain empty while hospital consultants struggle to admit patients whose beds are taken up by elderly people well enough to be discharged.
