Irish business groups have today welcomed the High Court's decision in today's case relating to upward-only rents.

Retailers have challenged the Government to publish the reasons why it believes there are constitutional difficulties to introducing legislation to tackle the problem of historical upward-only rent review leases.

In his Árd Fheis speech on Saturday night Taoiseach Enda Kenny stated “We had intended to legislate to end upward-only rent reviews, but this proved impossible because of constitutional difficulties”.
