Lisa Kearney is set to be confirmed as Ireland's first ever Olympic women's judo competitor, despite being beaten in the European Championships in Russia today.

The International Judo Federation have opted not to impose any sanction against Iranian Arash Mikresmaeili.

Iran’s Olympic flagbearer Arash Miresmaeili was today officially withdrawn from the men’s 66-kilogram judo competition after failing to make the weight - despite claims he was made unavailable for political reasons.
