Ireland have been handed a route back into the next World Cup after the International Cricket Council today reversed their decision to omit the Associate countries.

Cricket Ireland have welcomed International Cricket Council president Sharad Pawar’s decision to reopen the debate about the structure of the 2015 World Cup but remain aware that the argument is a long way from won.

SPORTS Minister Leo Varadkar last night offered the full backing of his department to Cricket Ireland’s efforts to overturn their removal from the 2015 World Cup.

The ICC Board has unanimously approved a recommendation for Cricket South Africa to nominate an Acting President following the death of Percy Sonn last month.

Following its 74-run victory over Bangladesh in the ICC Cricket World Cup at Barbados, Ireland has earned a place on the LG ICC ODI Championship table.
