Online marketplace eBay is to cut 2,400 jobs globally, with the impact on its thousands of workers in Ireland as yet unclear.

Ebay, which employs close to 3,000 people here, is planning to cut its global workforce by 2,400, or 7% during this quarter.

Dublin-based firm Actavis, one of the world’s largest generic-drugs makers by market value, has agreed to buy Forest Laboratories for about $25bn (€18bn).
