Authorities in Texas have charged a 20-year-old man over the shooting death of a seven-year-old black girl who was killed while a passenger in a car with her family.

A woman who previously dated the man accused of fatally shooting her, her husband and six children had texted her mother before her death that she was being held at gunpoint.
