A British journalist has been charged with murdering his wife in Dubai, the emirate's government has announced.

Dubai’s government said today it had received £6bn (€6.63bn) in emergency funds from oil-rich neighbour Abu Dhabi to pay debts owed by its struggling conglomerate.

An English engineering firm dating back more than 200 years was snapped up for £700m (€1.03bn) today by the Dubai-based owner of Madame Tussauds.

Madame Tussauds and a host of major theme parks were sold today in a £800m (€1.1bn) deal with an investment firm controlled by the government of Dubai.
