BIOTECHNOLOGY company Genzyme, which employs more than 380 people at its Waterford facility, has reported an 18% increase in revenues in the three months to June 30.

A MAJOR Waterford employer, which has begun construction of a new €61 million manufacturing facility in the city, has received a boost that could translate into more jobs.

Ireland must focus on highly-skilled R&D employment because it can not compete effectively with other low-cost economies for manufacturing jobs anymore, Enterprise Minister Micheál Martin declared today.

A PHARMACEUTICALS multinational, which is developing a new €150 million plant in Waterford city, said yesterday its project is well on track and it could not have picked a more suitable location for the development.
