Gardaí were tonight investigating a possible drugs link to the murder of a father-of-one who was shot dead in north Dublin a year and a half after a friend disappeared.

Justice Minister Michael McDowell was urged today to set up a specialist unit to combat gangland killers following the murder of a 64-year-old grandmother in Dublin.
