Gardaí in West Cork are looking for people to nominate outstanding youngsters who are a credit to their communities so they can highlight their achievements at an annual awards ceremony.

For several years, many of Ireland’s principal institutions, ranging from An Garda Síochána to the Catholic Church, have been embroiled in controversies of their own making.

Nominations are being sought for the West Cork Garda Youth Awards, one of the biggest community events on the region’s calendar.

Nominations are being sought for the 18th West Cork Garda Youth Awards, which celebrate the achievements of outstanding people between the ages of 14 and 21 in the area.
