Corofin coasted to a third All-Ireland crown in five years, the current kingpins of club football totally outclassing a frustrated Dr Crokes side.

Dr Crokes selector Vince Casey has mixed memories of taking on Corofin. As a player, there was the 1992 All-Ireland club semi-final victory over the Galwaymen, a game where Casey found the net from full-forward. As a manager, however, his record is rather less kind.

For weeks, the focus before this All-Ireland junior final zeroed in on Derrytresk, but Galway’s Naomh Pádraig stole the limelight in Croke Park yesterday by claiming the honours in the most dramatic fashion.
