Opec members have split on whether their output should be increased in a bid to boost global supply that might cause oil prices to drop.

CRUDE oil futures rose as the approach of Hurricane Ivan disrupted production and the arrival of shipments in the Gulf of Mexico, where a quarter of US oil and natural gas is pumped.

CRUDE oil may fall next week as rising production from OPEC helps replenish global inventories, according to a Bloomberg News survey of traders and analysts.
