Time was when Fiat had a car for everyone and the company’s factories pumped out gazillions of units annually to an audience only too willing to purchase the attractive and cost-effective products on offer.

I bet you remember the Renault Megane hatchback TV advert from 2003. The theme tune was Groove Armada’s ‘I See you Baby (Shakin’ That Ass)’ and, well, it featured lots of posteriors jiggling about with shots of the then new Megane hatchback’s distinctive rear end dropped in here and there.

The new Fiat Tipo — which we will not see in Ireland until late next year — has already received its first international award.
