The Football Association in England has broadened its scope to retrospectively punish foul play.

Anton Ferdinand resisted the temptation to publish a blow-by-blow account of his clash with John Terry yesterday and instead chose to give his full backing to the Football Association’s investigation in the race row that has engulfed him and the Chelsea and England captain.
