British government ministers were warned in 2011 that horse meat was illegally entering the human food chain, it was claimed.

Officials in Britain investigating the horse meat mis-labelling scandal will continue examining evidence today after three more plants were raided.

Larry Goodman’s ABP Food Group was at the heart of yet more horsemeat controversy last night as it emerged its meat was contained in bolognese sauce which has been withdrawn by British retailer Asda.

Agriculture ministers from the countries affected by the horsemeat scandal are to gather in Brussels today for a meeting chaired by Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney.
