The union representing public bus drivers is today expected to warn politicians that changes to Bus Éireann’s Expressway service will lead to industrial action.

The possibility of some bus routes being curtailed or scrapped has been described as “another nail in the coffin” of rural Ireland by campaigners.

A raft of state-owned companies face being broken up or sold off under radical plans to raise €5bn and pull Ireland out of the red.
