PAT VERLING produced Berkley cherry-ripe after a long, tough season to land the featured Killarney 250 Handicap Chase as another good crowd turned out in the sunshine at the Kerry track yesterday evening.

THE three-day May meeting got underway in glorious sunshine at Killarney yesterday, and young Athlone claimer Mark Watts enjoyed by far his biggest win when partnering Calorando to take the featured Murphys Irish Stout Handicap Hurdle.

Ferdy Murphy is planning to walk the course at Down Royal on Monday in the hope of giving Truckers Tavern the go ahead to tackle the following weekend’s James Nicholson Wine Merchants Champion Chase.
