Parents in an East Cork community are to be asked, for the second time in two years, for their preferred patron for a new primary school

The opening of two primary schools in Cork and Dublin has been deferred by Education Minister Rúairí Quinn because there was not enough support for the patrons who applied to run them.

The Department of Education is considering applications from eight prospective patrons for control of a dozen new schools to be opened in the next three years.
