Oil giant BP today raised more cash to meet the huge cost of the Gulf of Mexico spill after agreeing the $1.9bn (€1.43bn) sale of its Colombian oil and gas exploration business.

Banana company Chiquita Brands International is to pay a $25m (€18.9m) fine after admitting it paid terrorists for protection in a volatile farming region of Colombia.
