A passer-by helped to save a baby girl when he crawled into a car that was upside-down in water, US police said.

Author Stephen King has been released from the Eastern Maine Medical Centre after spending 25 days in the hospital fighting pneumonia and complications from a 1999 accident.

Best-selling US author Stephen King was expected to remain in a Maine hospital for several days as he recovers from pneumonia, a spokesman said.
