Sweden’s Tomas Lindahl, American Paul Modrich and US-Turkish scientist Aziz Sancar have won the Nobel Prize in chemistry for “mechanistic studies of DNA repair”.

A study using mice has uncovered a possible new cause of Alzheimer’s disease, and suggests a drug being investigated in human clinical trials to treat cancer could prevent the illness.
