US stocks finished mixed today as interest rate worries and a legal setback for Merck & Co countered momentum from a possible multi-billion-dollar acquisition by ConocoPhillips.

Paramount Pictures today said it had agreed to buy independent film studio DreamWorks SKG Inc. in a deal worth 1.6bn US dollars (€1.36bn) in cash and debt.
