The Dublin Docklands Development Authority has been asked by the commercial court to provide witness statements in the action by bankrupt developer Bernard McNamara concerning the controversial €412m sale of the Irish Glass Bottle site in Ringsend.

A MEMBER of the Dublin Docklands Development Authority sent an email declaring “happy days” and “our pension is now secured” after the DDDA board sanctioned the authority becoming involved in the purchase of the Irish Glass Bottle site at Ringsend, later bought for €412 million, the Commercial Court has heard.

THE Dublin Docklands Development Authority has denied it or its former chief executive Paul Maloney made “representations” to developer Bernard McNamara which induced him to get involved in a joint bid with the authority for the Irish Glass Bottle site at Ringsend and caused him massive losses.

DEVELOPER Bernard McNamara will provide a sworn statement of his assets and liabilities to investors pursuing him for €62.5 million but it is “impossible” for him to outline the current value of his assets, the Commercial Court heard yesterday.

THE Dublin Docklands Development Authority has brought a preliminary application aimed at having developer Bernard McNamara’s company Donatex Ltd provide security for the costs of their legal action alleging the authority exposed them to claims of more than €108 million over the purchase of the Irish Glass Bottle site at Ringsend.
