The project is being led by Trinity College Dublin researcher Danielle Claire O’Sullivan, who is appealing for anyone with those experiences to get in contact. She explained:

An official report has highlighted allegations of “inappropriate relationships” between some female inmates at Dóchas women’s prison and a number of male staff.

Prison bosses said plans for a new block at Dóchas Women’s Prison, which have been criticised as posing “a risk to the health, safety, and welfare” of inmates, were no longer going ahead.

JUSTICE Minister Alan Shatter has described as “unacceptable” the treatment of female inmates in two cases highlighted in a recent inspection report on Dochas Women’s Prison.

PRISON inspectors claim a female inmate has suffered a “serious violation of her human rights” and that other women in Dochas Prison were subjected to “unnecessary humiliation” by being ordered to strip naked in front of male staff for an internal body scan.
