Two men have been jailed for their part in a conspiracy to sell 30 tonnes of horsemeat as beef, most of which entered the food chain.

A businessman has been found guilty of being part of a near-£200,000 conspiracy to pass off 30 tonnes of horsemeat as beef, much of which went on to enter the food chain.

A plot to pass off horsemeat as beef unravelled when horse identification chips were found in the meat in a surprise inspection, a court has been told.
