Parents in Co Kerry will have to pay hundreds of euro more for private transport for children starting secondary school this week than for their older brothers and sisters who already have seats on the school bus.

PARENTS groups have called for all buses carrying young people to be placed under the same regulations as those operating under the State-funded school transport system.

FAMILIES of children with disabilities should receive more State funding for school transport, an independent body has recommended.
