Residents at a disability centre in Louth have been reimbursed after an inspection found they had been inappropriately charged thousands of euro from their own personal funds for basic services and equipment.

A centre for people with disabilities, which has since been forced to close, was found by inspectors to be “not safe”, with multiple breaches of standards.

Management of a home for intellectually disabled people where everyone used one resident’s private property, including a TV, three-piece suite and garden furniture, have been heavily criticised for not providing such basic items themselves.
