China’s Communist Party chief in Tibet delivered a fresh attack on the Dalai Lama today as envoys of the region’s exiled leader met for a second day of secretive talks with Chinese officials.

A GROUP of monks shouting “Tibet is not free! disrupted a carefully orchestrated visit for foreign reporters to Tibet’s capital yesterday. The disruption was an embarrassment for China as it tried to showcase a calm Lhasa, following anti-government riots.

China’s foreign ministry says it is concerned about a planned meeting between prime minister Gordon Brown and the Dalai Lama.

China moved swiftly today to place the blame for violence in Tibet on the province’s exiled former leader the Dalai Lama.
